Set design
Study set design in Milan. The bachelor’s programme introduces students to the fascinating world of stage and set design as well as costume design for theatre, media, and live events.
This field has been part of NABA since its founding, and thanks to the close relationship between the school and theatres, the programme has evolved into a meeting place for students and professionals to exchange ideas and thoughts.
With the two specialisations within the bachelor’s programme — Theatre and Opera, and Media and Events — students analyse many different angles of set design and costume design for various types of performances, such as opera, theatre, dance, and exhibitions. But also sets for music videos, fashion shows, window displays, advertising, photography, and TV.

The first year is also offered as a one-year programme
NABA’s one-year programme is designed for international students who want to study set design for a year at NABA’s campus in Milan, together with students from around the world. You study the first year of the bachelor’s programme and, upon completing the courses, receive a certificate from NABA. You can also choose to continue your studies.

Specialisations
Theatre and Opera
The Theatre and Opera specialisation gives students the opportunity to acquire the fundamental tools for set design across all main areas of show business, learning how to approach a space that needs to be structured and how to analyse the most meaningful scenarios in contemporary cultural production.
Through both a theoretical and a practical approach, it enables students to carry out a fully developed project with confidence — for operas, theatre plays, ballets, musicals, and live concerts. Future set designers also have the opportunity to confront the different realities of show business and their needs, as well as the demands of contemporary audiences.
Media and Events
The Media and Events specialisation focuses on new tools and methods for set design for artistic performances, exhibitions, events, music videos, fashion shows, as well as advertising, photography, and TV.
The specialisation aims to enable students to develop their personal projects with complete methodological awareness by mastering the knowledge and skills required to understand and control every step of contemporary cultural production.
