This one-year programme is designed for those who have professional experience from a different field and wish to transition into the international hospitality industry
Over two intensive semesters, you will develop both operational and leadership-oriented skills in areas such as event planning, restaurant operations, spa management and guest service.
Through theoretical courses and practical projects, you will be prepared for roles within high-level hotel, resort and wellness operations. Studies take place in Leysin during the first semester, followed by a six-month international internship.
The programme is delivered in Leysin, located near Montreux, Switzerland. Accommodation, meals, health insurance are included in the fee during your time at the school, as well as an international internship. All instruction is in English. The programme is eligible for Swedish student funding (CSN).

Programme Content
- Semester 1
- During the first semester, you will take core courses including food & beverage management, front office, finance, marketing, HR and event planning.
- You will also participate in three practical “concept labs” focusing on service excellence, international cuisine, and spa and guest experiences.
- Language instruction in French or German, as well as academic English, is included.
- Semester 2
- The second semester consists of an internship in Switzerland or abroad, where you will apply your knowledge in practice and build important industry connections.
Career Opportunities and Further Studies
The programme prepares you to work in management roles within hotels, resorts, spa or restaurant operations. You will learn to manage everything from menus, sustainability and customer service to financial analysis and technical systems. After completing the degree, you have the option to progress to Master’s programmes in hospitality management at SHMS.
