New Urban Design
This one-year master’s program provides a new perspective on the role of urban architects and gives students the opportunity to expand their experience in understanding, interpreting, and designing cities to meet the new complexity of urban contexts.
Students then complement their new experiences with practical actions and establish relationships with local and international partners. Through research into new ways of understanding how cities are structured, the program provides what is needed to implement new urban development projects, with special attention to service design.
Focus
- Understanding the city in different proportions and dimensions (the physical city, the social city, the political city) to develop urban development projects with special attention to service redesign (physical, social, and political)
- Finding a methodical approach to managing the design, renovation, and planning of neighborhoods, temporary activities and community events, connections between buildings, transportation systems, social networks, the environment, and the care of local communities
- Being able to interact with key industry partners: institutions, associations, companies, architectural firms, sociologists, anthropologists, and citizens
Career opportunities: urban planner, city branding designer, public administration consultant, consultant for municipal companies and organizations providing multiple public services, architecture and engineering firms, and companies working in urban planning.
